*REMINGTON MODEL 48F SPORTSMAN SEMI-AUTO SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 3128666. Exceptionally fine early non-factory, engraved and inlaid Remington Auto with 28” vent rib IMP MOD bbl and highly figured center crotch cut stock & forearm with ribbon checkering on the forearm and special patterns on the wrist. The receiver has deep, Germanic style engraving with punch dot background, full coverage with six gold inlays consisting of a woodcock, mallard and two setters on the left side and a pheasant, quail and two pointers on the right side. The engraving patterns extend about 6” up the bbl. There is a small dog’s head on the trigger bow. There is an oval initial plate on bottom of the stock with initials “FBS”. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new. May have been fired but retains virtually all its fine custom finish to both metal and wood. Estate of John Delph. 4-51443 JR913 (1,500-2,500)
