RARE D. M LEFEVER SONS & CO. BOXLOCK DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. SN 1117. Fine early shotgun with 30″ Krupp fluid steel bbls, choked FULL/FULL with flat, matted rib and single brass bead. It has a single lump with Greener Crossbolt and unusual knurled rolling safety with dbl triggers and ejectors. The receiver is nicely engraved with vignettes of a setter on point on the left side, a pointer on point on the right side, flying ducks on the bottom and a dog’s head on the trigger bow. All surrounded with light patterns of fine foliate arabesque engraving. The floorplate is marked “PAT’D 1902 / NOT CONNECTED WITH LEFEVER ARMS CO.” It is mounted in nicely grained American walnut wood with tiny black insert splinter forearm and semi-pistol grip stock, 14-1/4″ over an old leather faced red waffle pad. The stock & forearm have extra coverage checkering with checkered teardrop side panels. CONDITION: Fine. The bbls retain most of a thin restored finish and ring true. The receiver retains 20-25% thin original case colors with the balance turned silver. The wood is sound with usual light handling & use marks showing moderate wear on the stock, heavy on the forearm.
