RARE W & C SCOTT & SON PERCUSSION SHOTGUN. Cal. 8 bore. SN 10245. Massive muzzleloader with 28″ Damascus bbls, wide, concave, smooth rib with single bead and the maker’s name and address near the chamber end. It has platinum blowout plugs and is mounted in a nicely figured, heavy 1-pc walnut stock with wide, fluted nipple shields. The bbls have two iron guides containing what appears to be an original ramrod with brass head. The locks are mounted directly in the wood and have the maker’s name on each side. It has a long decorative nose pipe with over-sized trigger guard and smooth steel buttplate with long-stepped tang. All the metal is modestly engraved in beautiful English style arabesque patterns with tiny rope pattern border. The buttstock has a very old 1-1/2″ extension and is currently 14-1/8″ pull. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 50-60% thin Damascus pattern with the top rib slightly raised at the backend. Wood is sound, dark and oil stained showing heavy wear with light to moderate nicks and scratches. Mechanics are fine. Bores are bright with very fine pitting. Ramrod appears to be reduced in length, about 1″. 4-53686 JR992 (2,500-3,500)
