*LIGHTWEIGHT FERLIB SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 33847. Beautiful boxlock over/under with 26-7/8″ vent rib bbls, choked MOD/IMP-CYL with single brass bead on a narrow matted rib, ejectors and checkered single non-selective trigger. The bbls are marked with the maker’s name & address on the left side of the rib and “New England Arms Co. Kittery Point.” on the right side. It has a coin finished boxlock receiver with bank note style engraving with large vignettes of a gold flying quail in a field scene on the left side, a gold flying partridge on the right side and a woodcock on the bottom. The balance of the receiver, opening lever, top tang, trigger guard and forend iron are beautifully engraved in English style rose & scroll patterns. The left side of the receiver is artist signed “Piardi”. It is mounted in beautiful streaky shell grain French or Italian walnut with a checkered schnable tipped, wrap around forearm and straight stock, 14-5/8″ over a checkered butt. Drop at the heel 2-3/8”, drop at the comb 1-7/16”. Weight 6 lbs, 0.6 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near new. Retains virtually all of its fine original bbl blue and factory coin finish on the receiver and trigger guard. Wood is sound with a few very scattered, very tiny handling & use marks. Checkering is still clean with no hand oil staining and the wood retains virtually all of its fine original finish. This shotgun was apparently previously imported and sold by New England Arms, which company is being sold as another lot in this auction.
