*L.C. SMITH SPECIALTY GRADE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN RE90372. Fine graded Smith with 32” Nitro Steel bbls choked FULL/FULL with orig tapered, flat, matted, ventilated rib with brass front bead & ivory middle bead with crossbolt bbl extension, ejectors & Hunter One Trigger. Mounted with very highly figured, flame grain, Claro walnut with checkered, schnable tip, beavertail forearm with pistol grip stock, 14-1/2” over a Pachmayr presentation model trap pad. Lockplates are very nicely engraved with two quail on left side & a flying mallard on right side, surrounded by open foliate & floral arabesque patterns with shaded background. Maker’s name is in a panel on each side. There are scattered patterns of matching engraving over receiver & trigger guard. Trigger plate is marked “HUNTER ONE TRIGGER”. Bore diameter: left – .727, right – .727. Bore restrictions: left – .037, right – .038. Wall thickness: left – .031, right – .029. Drop at heel: 2”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight: 8 lbs. 8.32 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain about 80% thin orig blue with balance turning plum to thin patina. Receiver & lockplates retain traces of orig case colors with balance having turned silver, mixed with patina on bottom. There is a hairline back of right lockplate with a couple of chips, otherwise wood is sound & retains most of a restored finish.
