*ITHACA 4E DAMASCUS DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN 2-BARREL SET. Cal. 12 ga. SN 86350. Beautiful high quality shotgun with 26” bbls (#1) choked FULL/IMP-CYL and 28” bbls (#2) choked FULL/MOD. Both have tapered, concave matted ribs, sgl bead with crossbolt rib extension & ejectors. Bbls & forearms are numbered on bottom “1” and “2” respectively. Mounted with very highly figured, California Claro walnut with carved & checkered, black tip, splinter forearms & capped, semi-pistol grip stock with fleur-de-lis carved & checkered wrist, 14” over an Ithaca hard rubber buttplate. Receiver is very beautifully engraved with a pointer in a field scene on left side, a setter in a field scene on right side and a flying mallard in a marsh scene on floorplate, surrounded by patterns of very well executed foliate arabesque engraving. Fences & sides of receiver have a sweeping reinforcing rib with sides of receiver raised over bottom of receiver. Trigger guard has a small vignette of a flying woodcock. It has gold plated dbl triggers with checkered tips. BBLS #1: Bore diameter: left – .736, right – .735. Bore restrictions: left – .036, right – .012. Wall thickness: left – .026, right – .023. BBLS #2: Bore diameter: left – .729, right – .729. Bore restrictions: left – .034, right – .022. Wall thickness: left – .025, right – .026. Drop at heel: 2-1/2”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight with 26” bbls: 7 lbs. 7.04 oz. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbls retain most of their orig Damascus pattern with #1 bbls thin at muzzle & chamber ends with a cleaned spot on left side about mid-point. There are also some light surface spots toward muzzle. Brilliant shiny bores. #2 bbls retain about all of their dark orig Damascus patterns, somewhat thinned over chamber areas. Brilliant shiny bores. Receiver retains 75-80% orig case colors, bright in sheltered areas, fading elsewhere, turned silver on bottom front. Trigger guard retains about 75% orig blue. Stock has a repaired crack through the wrist, otherwise wood is sound with light handling & use marks and retains about all of its piano finish varnish.
