*SCARCE PHILADELPHIA FOX CE GRADE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 19985. Fine Fox dbl with 26” Krupp Fluid Steel bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered, concave, matted rib, sgl bead, cross bolt rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Right bbl is engraved “KRUPP FLUID STEEL MADE BY” and left bbl “A.H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA. PA.” Mounted with very nicely figured streaky, slab sawed walnut with full checkered splinter forearm and rnd knob Prince of Wales stock with checkered side panels, 14-1/4” over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Receiver is very nicely engraved with vignettes of two quail on left side, two woodcock on right side and a setter on bottom, all surrounded by fine foliate arabesque patterns. Maker’s name is in vignettes on each side. Engraving extends about 1-3/4” up over chamber areas. Water table is marked with a small “C”. Bore diameter: left – .725, right – .725. Bore restrictions: left – .024, right – .018. Wall thickness: left – .027, right – .024. Drop at heel: 2-3/8”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 6 lbs. 15.36 oz. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain about all of a fine restored blue with some fine pitting near right muzzle. Receiver retains 50-60% orig case colors, strong in sheltered areas, fading on floorplate and turned silver on edges of fences and bottom of receiver. Wood is sound with normal handling & use marks showing light to moderate wear and retains most of an old restored finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bores. 4-58416 JR533 (3,000-5,000)
