REMINGTON MODEL 1863 ZOUAVE RIFLE WITH BAYONET. Cal. 58. NSN. Standard Zouave rifle with 33” rnd bbl, fastened by two brass bbl bands with patchbox with spare nipple . Blued bbl, casehardened lock, brass buttplate, sling swivels & ramrod. Standard wood stock with very visible cartouches. These arms were made circa 1862-1865 and no record has been found to show that they were issued during Civil War. Many like this are found in fine condition similar to this one. Accompanied by an orig bayonet & scabbard. CONDITION: Fine, near new. Bbl, lock and hammer retain 97-98% orig factory finish with some light surface discoloration on bbl and brilliant case colors on the lockplate and hammer. Stock is sound with light handling and storage marks with two legible cartouches and retains a fine oil finish. Crisp mechanics. Brilliant shiny bore. Bayonet is fine, having been re-polished with some fine pitting at the ricasso. Scabbard is lightly crackled but sound. 4-59364 JH1 (4,000-6,000)
