*CASED CONNECTICUT SHOTGUN MGF. CO. FOX FE SPECIAL GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 28 ga. SN F205802. Extraordinary C.S. Mfg. Co. dbl with 28” bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL with concave, tapered, matted rib with dbl ivory beads, gold bands at muzzle & breech ends with a gold band across rib. It has crossbolt rib extension with ejectors & gold plated dbl triggers. Mounted with highly figured, streaky, honey & chocolate, circassian walnut with carved & checkered, black insert, schnable tip forearm with straight stock having carved side panels with carved & checkered wrist with additional foliate carving down sides & around bottom of stock. It is 14-1/2” over a checkered butt with engraved heel & toe plates. Receiver is spectacularly engraved by “J. Davidson” & signed on trigger plate with date “2001”. It has a 2-color gold flying duck on both sides with gold cattails & a 2-color gold pheasant on bottom with gold grasses. Entire receiver has gold wire border. Vignettes have extremely well executed rose & scroll patterns with a large bouquet on trigger bow. Fences are deep relief scalloped with a raised rib around back edge & have deep relief oak leaf engraving patterns. Top tang is outlined in gold wire with “SAFE” in gold & bottom tang has serial number in gold. Water table has serial number & “FE SPECIAL” in gold, with identical inlay inside forend iron. Engraving patterns extend about 2” over chambers with about 1” on muzzles. Bore diameter: left – .551, right – .552. Bore restrictions: left – .013, right – .008. Unable to gauge wall thickness. Drop at heel: 2-1/2”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 5 lbs. 8.32 oz.. Accompanied by a C.S. Mfg. Co. chocolate leather covered, maroon felt lined, oak & leather case, compartmented for shotgun, snap caps, which are missing, a 2-pc brass & ebony cleaning rod, a square oil bottle & two covered compartments. It has its orig canvas & leather cover. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Has been fired but very little & retains virtually all of its brilliant orig factory finish to both metal & wood. Consignor states he had a slip-on pad over butt which left a small line around edge & removed finish from heel & toe plates. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores.
