*OGDEN SMITHS & HUSSEY SINGLE BBL TRAP GUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 6003. Fine best-quality sidelock trap gun with 32″ ventilated rib bbl, choked FULL that has a hand matted tapered rib with white front bead and silver middle bead. There is an additional round silver bead in the middle and the rib is marked with English & U.S. patents. The bbl has dbl lump with doll’s head rib extension and the receiver is wide and heavy with 7-pin lockplate on both sides and has a non-automatic thumb safety on the top tang with “SAFE” in gold. The receiver has scalloped reinforced edges with light chain pattern border engraving and some engraved screw heads. The hinge pin is engraved and the bottom of the receiver is marked “Patent Ejector”. The stock has a spliced Monte Carlo comb with raised cheek piece and leather covering and has raised teardrop side panels with checkered wrist and capped pistol grip, 14-5/8″ over a white line waffle pad. The forearm is 12-1/2″ long, elliptical shaped, extensively checkered with dbl diamond pattern and a reinforcing wedge on the bottom of the bbl in addition to the latch wedge. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 93-95% strong original blue with some light surface etching over the chamber area. Receiver and lockplates retain 75-80% original case hardening with strong colors in the sheltered areas, moderately faded on the right side with traces of color on the left side. Butt stock retains most of its custom finish on the rear portion and generous amounts of original finish around the receiver. Checkering has been freshened. Forearm is sound and retains most of its original strong finish with one or two small mars. Latch and forend iron retain about 85% glossy bright blue.
