RARE PARKER GH GRADE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 8 ga. SN 171981. Built on a No. 6 frame with 36” Parker special steel bbls, with tapered, concave, matted rib, sgl bead, extractor & an unusual sgl selective trigger. The selector switch is a small serrated knob beside top tang. Mounted with nicely figured, feather crotch cut, American walnut with checkered, splinter forearm and pistol grip stock, 13-5/8” over a Parker dog’s head hard rubber buttplate. Stock has a reinforcing pin through the side panels. Receiver is engraved with typical G-patterns of two ducks on left side, two geese on right side & two geese on floorplate. It has maker’s name on each side and there are light foliate arabesque patterns. Unable to gauge bore diameter, bore restrictions or wall thickness. Drop at heel: 2-5/8”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight: 13 lbs. 4.48 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain most of a satin, restored finish with muzzles having been slightly dressed. Receiver retains case colors in sheltered areas, being mostly a dark silver/brown patina. Stock, with its repair in wrist, otherwise wood is sound and retains most of its orig varnish on buttstock with some oil staining around receiver & tangs. The forearm is sound and retains most of an old refinish with some dark staining around the iron. Mechanics are fine, very bright shiny bores. Dr. Poppell Collection 4-59286 JR458 (8,000-12,000)
