*AUGUSTE FRANCOTTE BOXLOCK DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 ga. SN 22591. Fine high quality dbl with 26-3/4” Siemens Martin Steel bbls with tapered, concave, matted rib, sgl bead, ejectors with third fastener & dbl underbites. Receiver has dbl triggers. Bbl flats are marked “65 MM” (2-5/8” chambers) but measure 2-3/4”, apparently having been opened up. Mounted with very highly figured, streaky, French walnut with checkered, splinter forearm & Prince of Wales rnd knob stock, 14-1/2” over a checkered butt. It has narrow European sling swivels. Receiver is nicely engraved with foliate arabesque & floral patterns with about 70% coverage. Water table & standing breech are case colored with outside surfaces & trigger guard coin finished. Bore diameter: left – .674, right – .672. Bore restrictions: left – .026, right – .015. Wall thickness: left – .026, right – .027. Drop at heel: 2-1/4”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight: 5 lbs. 14.4 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls appear to retain about all of a beautiful, high luster, professionally restored blue. Receiver retains about all of its fine coin finish that does not appear to be a restoration. There is a hairline on left side panel, otherwise wood is sound and retains about all of a fine professionally restored oil finish with light surface scratches on right side of butt.
