*FRANCOTTE MODEL 45 EAGLE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 84277. Fine sideplate dbl with 30″ bbls choked FULL/FULL with tapered concave matted rib, single bead and doll’s head extension with modified Greener crossbolt. The bbls have the “Von Lengerke & Detmold” marking on the right bbl and “U.S. Agents New-York” on the left bbl. It has chopper lumps & ejectors with dbl triggers. The receiver and sideplates are beautifully engraved with two vignettes of three partridge and three pheasant on the left side, three ducks and three shore birds on the right side, a beautiful spread winged American eagle with shield in raised gold on the bottom and a heron on the trigger bow. The sideplate vignettes and the trigger bow all have appropriate background scenery. These vignettes are all surrounded with foliate arabesque patterns and delicate borders. The fences have side clips and are relief engraved with overlapping foliate patterns. It is mounted in very nicely figured streaky French walnut with checkered splinter forearm and semi-pistol grip stock, 15″ over an old English pad. Drop at heel 1-3/4”, drop at comb 1-1/4”. Weight 8 lbs, 2.4 oz. CONDITION: As new, may have been fired, but if so very little. It retains virtually all of its fine original finish to both metal and wood with a minor nick or two on the metal and a few scattered light handling & storage marks.
