*RARE PIGEON GRADE WINCHESTER MODEL 21 DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal 410. SN W34097. Beautiful rare small frame Model 21 with 26” ventilated rib bbls choked, IMP CYL/MOD with red ivory bead, flat side receiver, ejectors and single selective trigger. Wood is highly figured center crotch cut walnut, “B” carved with beavertail forearm and straight stock 14-3/8” over a checkered butt. Receiver is beautifully engraved with vignettes of a setter on the left side, a pointer on the right side, two pheasants on the floorplate and a dog’s head on the trigger bow, all surrounded by arabesque patterns which also extend 2-3/4” over the chambers. All of the bright surfaces are jeweled or engine turned and the frame & bbl water tables have lightening cuts. Accompanied by a Winchester manufacturing order dated 8/10/79, custom order number 13-120-70A1A, completely identifying this gun and indicating it was ordered by “OLIN CORP. / PUBLIC RELATIONS / 460 PARK AVE. / NEW YORK, NY”. Under the special instructions block on the invoice it is indicated that “ALL WORKMANSHIP TO BE OF THE FINEST QUALITY POSSIBLE”. Also accompanied by its original heavy cardboard, two-piece box containing the cardboard internal sleeves and oiled paper with the original yellow label on the end marked “SPECIAL” “PIGEON” “SELECT WOOD”. Additionally accompanying is the original oval yellow and red hand tag, overstamped the same as the label. The bbl and frame have Connecticut Shotgun proofs, These are genuine Winchester parts and Winchester work. Proofs are Connecticut Arms, so the gun was obviously ordered but not fully completed before the shop was closed. It was finished and proofed by Connecticut Shotgun, but otherwise it is all Winchester, Winchester parts and assembly. Weight 6 lbs 13.9 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new with minor scrapes on the standing breech. Otherwise appears unused retaining virtually all its original factory finish to metal and wood. Box is fine with slightly fuzzed corners and one or two split edges. 4-50941 (25,000-40,000)
