*WONDERFUL CASED PAIR OF WATSON BROS. BEST QUALITY SIDELOCK DBL BBL SHOTGUNS Cal. 12 ga. SN 9015 & 9016. Fabulous pair of lightweight 12 bores with 25″ bbls choked FULL/IMP-CYL. Gun #1 left .021 & right .010, Gun #2 left .026 & right .009. It has 2-1/2″ chambers and is so marked on the bottom flats. They are Nitro proofed to 3 tons and have narrow hand matted ribs with single silver bead with a gold “1” and “2” at the breech ends of the ribs and correspondingly on the opening levers and forearm tips. They have dbl lumps with third fastener, ejectors and dbl triggers. The tops of the right bbls are engraved “WATSON BROS.” and the left “29 OLD BOND ST. LONDON. W.” The receivers and lockplates have full coverage, incredibly fine English arabesque scroll engraving with delicate border patterns. The fences have delicate scallops around the rear edges and the frame has fluted reinforcements around the bottom edges. The lockplates have gold line cocked indicators and the maker’s name in a ribbon on each side. The opening levers, trigger guards and forend iron are engraved to match and the top tang has “SAFE” in gold. The triggers are right hand. Both shotguns are mounted in beautiful marble cake French walnut with checkered splinter forearms and straight stocks with diamond shaped wrist and raised teardrop side panels, 14-1/2″ over checkered horn buttplates. Both shotguns have identical dimensions of 1-3/4″ drop at the heel and 1-5/16″ drop at the comb with moderate amount of cast off. Gun #1 weighs 5 lbs. 14.3 oz. and gun #2 weighs 5 lbs. 14.4 oz. They are accompanied by their original chocolate brown leather, maroon felt lined dbl trunk case with maker’s label in each lid. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Both guns retain virtually all of an extremely fine, probably English, restored finish. Bbls have wonderful blue with the rest of the metal having brilliant case colors. Wood is sound and has very minor handling & storage nicks & scratches. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. Case has some minor mothing in both lids with handling & use marks on the outside, otherwise is sound. 4-53587 JR1050 (20,000-30,000)
