*RARE PURDEY SINGLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 22422. Fine trap gun with 32″ high vent rib bbl choked FULL. It has a flat, hand matted rib with dbl ivory beads and dbl lumps with third bite rib extension. The left side of the bbl has the maker’s name & address and the right side states that it was made of “Whitworth’s Fluid Pressed Steel”. It has a full sidelock with cocked indicator and sideplate on the right side, both of which are marked with the maker’s name. The receiver, lockplates, opening lever, top tang, trigger guard and forend iron are beautifully engraved with about 60% coverage, fine English rose & scroll patterns and have a delicate chain pattern border around the lockplates. It is mounted in beautiful flame grain center crotch cut sunburst pattern walnut with tapered checkered forearm and capped pistol grip stock, 15-1/4″ over a thick solid red trap pad. The stock has Monte Carlo comb and extensively checkered wrist with carved fleur-de-lis and foliate patterns. The trigger guard is engraved with the initials “HHA”. CONDITION: About very fine, the metal retain about all of a fine professionally restored finish with light wear on the receiver edges. The wood is sound, missing a small chip back of the top tang and retains about all of a fine professional oil finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-53584 JR1036 (5,000-7,000)
