Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this shotgun as having been final inspected May 6, 1938 for Abercrombie & Fitch Co. It shows a return & repair in June of 1980 for re-checkering stock, repairing chips in beavertail forearm, new solid recoil pad, two new hammers, a new set of bbls choked WS1/WS2 and engrave gun in “21-5” style with “CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER” in a panel on rib. Apparently this shotgun started life as a 20 ga. but it was determined that they were ruined and apparently had the 28 ga. bbls built. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain most of a beautiful restored blue and rib inscription appears to have been made with a pantograph. Receiver & trigger guard retain most of their fine custom blue. Wood is sound with stock retaining about all of a brilliant custom finish & forearm most of its orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores.
