Built on an “O” frame with 28” Acme Steel bbls choked FULL/IMP-CYL with tapered, concave, matted rib, sgl bead, doll’s head rib extension, ejectors & sgl non-selective trigger, appears to be by Miller. Listed in the Parker Gun Identification & Serialization book as a D5, hammerless with no extra features, straight stock, 20 ga., with 28” bbls. Current bbls appear to be absolutely correct with all proper markings, but certainly could be factory replacements. Mounted with orig, highly figured, French walnut with full checkered, splinter forearm & straight stock with raised & checkered, fleur-de-lis side panels, 13-1/4” over a checkered butt. Actual length of pull would likely be in the 14” range as the replacement sgl trigger is located far back in trigger guard. It has a blank gold initial plate on bottom secured with six gold pins. Receiver is beautifully & most unusually engraved with a large bouquet of pansies on each side and a smaller chrysanthemum blossom toward front on each side, surrounded by foliate arabesque patterns in very tasteful coverage. Floorplate has a spectacular foliate & floral pattern. It has maker’s name in an arc on each side and the fences have a sgl raised rib, like an A-Grade. Trigger guard & appended metal are all engraved to match. There is a small border pattern at breech end of bbls. Bore diameter: left – .556, right – .557. Bore restrictions: left – .025, right – .005. Unable to gauge wall thickness. Drop at heel: 2-1/4”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 6 lbs. 5.44 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain about all of a fine professionally restored finish with some slight thinning at right muzzle. Receiver retains traces of case colors in most sheltered areas, being a cleaned silver/gray patina. Stock has a couple of tiny hairlines back of top tang, otherwise wood is sound and retains about all of a fine, professionally restored finish with freshened checkering. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores with some orange peel effect and a spot or two of pitting. 4-59268 JR678 (17,500-27,500)
