*SCARCE PRESENTATION PARKER BHE GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 150571. Built on an “O” frame with 26″ Acme steel bbls choked FULL/FULL with matted rib, sgl bead, and doll’s head extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Wood is beautifully grained English walnut with checkered splinter forearm & straight stock with raised fleur-de-lis side panels, 14-3/8″ over a skeleton buttplate with checkered center. Left side of the stock has a rare & unusual half moon checkered area on the cheek piece & a gold initial plate by the toe. Right side of the stock is inlaid with a 1-3/8″ x 1-1/8″ silver shield inscribed “PRESENTED TO / EDGAR L. APPERSON / BY / AUTOMOBILE DEALERS / ASS’N of SOUTHERN / CALIFORNIA / 1909”. Receiver is engraved with two bird dogs on point on each side & a standing stag in a woodland scene on the floorplate. Trigger bow is engraved with a vignette of a pointer on point & a flying pheasant in a field scene. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating that it was shipped June 18, 1908 to Tufts Lyon Arms Co. of Los Angeles, CA. It identifies this shotgun as having a 14-1/2″ LOP with straight grip and weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. Letter also indicates a silver inlay on the stock “LARGE ENOUGH TO PUT ON 8 NAMES”. Price was $225.00. No mention is made of the checkered panel on the left side of the stock. Drop at the heel 2-3/8″, drop at the comb 1-3/8″. Weight: 6 lbs. 2.2 oz. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbls retain 96-98% strong orig blue with minor light muzzle edge wear & light wear under the forearm. Receiver retains 65-75% thin orig case colors, strong in the sheltered areas with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound and retains most of a professionally restored finish.
