HOUGH’S SECURITY CASH REGISTER. Circa 1895. This inventive early cash register with security system has an oak case with nickel plated hardware. Top depository with drum to accept cash or receipts. Lift top lid chimes when opened to warn proprietor. Access is gained by series of 5 push buttons. Interior retains original paper label with directions. Stamped on interior with serial number 19598. Plaque on front reads “Hough’s Security, Springfield, Mass”. SIZE: 17-3/4″ w x 10-1/4″ h x 19-1/4″ d. CONDITION: Appears to be missing marquee as evidenced by two screw holes in top. Nickel plating shows some wear and pitting. Possibly some replaced parts. Overall very good. 1-7689 (1,500-2,500)
