*FRANCOTTE DELUXE SIDELOCK MODEL DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 91480. Spectacular deluxe shotgun with 28” bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL with tapered, concave, hand matted rib with sgl brass bead & maker’s name on top of right bbl. It has ejectors & dbl chopper lumps with sgl non-selective trigger. Mounted with very highly figured, streaky, honey & chocolate French walnut with checkered beavertail forearm & straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, 15” over a checkered butt. Bottom of stock has blank gold initial plate. Receiver, lockplates & all appended metal are fantastically engraved with full game scenes on lockplates consisting of three raised gold ducks in a Bulino style marsh background & two raised gold ducks in a marsh scene on right side. Bottom is engraved in great detail with a bald eagle perched on a pine limb, all surrounded by deep foliate arabesque patterns. Maker’s name & address are in gold on each side. Trigger guard has a raised gold flying woodcock & has serial number in gold. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold. Water table, standing breech & breech face of bbls are beautifully jeweled. Trigger plate is signed on right side “GREIVURE: MILTSON FRANCOTTE / PG. RC”. Bottom of left bbl, under forearm is engraved “HANSEN & CO. SOUTHPORT CT.”. Bore diameter: left – .622, right – .617. Bore restrictions: left – .025, right – .014. Wall thickness: left – .036, right – .040. Drop at heel: 2-1/8”, drop at comb: 1-1/4”. Weight: 6 lbs. 3.84 oz. Accompanied by a C.S. Mfg. Co. green felt lined, brown leather, trunk case compartmented in bottom for complete shotgun, two snap caps & a square, nickeled oil bottle. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, as new, probably unfired. Retains virtually all of its brilliant orig factory finish to both metal & wood. Bbl blue is bright & coin finished receiver is crisp. Wood has one or two minor handling & storage marks.
