*FINE PURDEY DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 19916. Beautiful dbl with 28-1/16” bbls with smooth tapered concave rib, sgl bead with maker’s name & address with dbl chopper lumps, third fastener, ejectors & dbl triggers. Bbls are choked MOD/IMP-CYL with 2-3/4” chambers & are proved 1-1/8 oz. It has assisted opening. Mounted with streaky marble cake honey & chocolate Circassian walnut with checkered splinter forearm & straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14” over leather covered pad. Receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved in typical Purdey/English rose & scroll patterns with about 80% coverage. Maker’s name & address is on bottom. Trigger guard & appended metal are engraved to match. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold. Lockplates have maker’s name on each side with cocked indicators. Accompanied by its orig red felt lined, oak & leather trunk case containing a round nickel oil bottle, a pair of snap caps, a bone or ivory screw-top parts bottle containing two spare firing pins, a leather pouch containing cleaning bits, a 1-pc brass & ebony cleaning rod, a chamber brush handle & spanner tool, both with wood handles. Also accompanied by a rare orig Purdey instruction booklet. Drop at heel: 2-5/16”, drop at comb: 1-3/4”. Bore restrictions: left – .024, right – .008. Wall thickness: left – .024, right – .025. Bore diameter: left – .732, right – .733. Weight: 6 lbs. 11.84 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain about all of a professional English re-blacking & wood about all of, what appears to be, a factory restored finish with only minor nicks & scratches. Left lockplate retains most of its orig muted case colors & right lockplate about 75-80%. Fences have bright colors in sheltered areas with balance turned silver. Bottom has faded to silver. Trigger guard retains most of its restored blue finish. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bores. Case is dark & used with numerous small nicks & scratches with wear on edges & replaced straps.
