*RARE CHARLES DALY EMPIRE GRADE PRE-WWII OVER-UNDER TRAP GUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 26124. Spectacular, early, Lindner made Prussian over-under on a Merkel style receiver with 32” vent rib bbls, choked IMP MOD/MOD, beautifully hand matted rib with dbl ivory beads and engraved “CHARLES DALY – EMPIRE QUALITY”. It has dbl lumps and dbl bbl extensions, single selective trigger and ejectors. It is fitted with beautifully grained French walnut wood with 3-pc forearm that has a narrow horn tip insert, very fine checkering and fleur-de-lis carving. The stock has a capped pistol grip with raised fleur-de-lis side panels, 14 3/8” over a solid red pad. It has a round initial plate on the bottom. The receiver, side plates, forend iron, opening lever and trigger guard are spectacularly engraved in foliate arabesque patterns with the left sideplate beautifully engraved, in great detail with a vignette of six valley quail. The right sideplate is equally detail engraved of a large setter in a woodland scene on point with two quail in the foreground, and all are surrounded with virtually 100% coverage of very fine engraving with punch dot background. The top tang has “S” in gold. The trigger plate has “U” & “O” in gold. The trigger is checkered. The grip cap is lightly engraved and the engraving extends over the extensions about 1” up the bbl. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Bbls retain 97 – 98% strong bright original blue. Receiver and side plates retain 60-70% subtle fading case colors turning silver. Wood is sound and retains most of an extremely fine professionally restored oil finish with the checkering showing light to moderate wear. Fine mechanics, brilliant shiny bores. 4-52399 JR171 (10,000-20,000)
