*CASED HOLLAND & HOLLAND BADMINTON PIGEON GUN NO. 2 MODEL DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 31320. Beautiful English dbl with 30” bbls choked FULL/FULL with tapered, concave, matted rib, sgl bead, ejectors, dbl under bites & third fastener. Right bbl has maker’s name & left bbl the address. Mounted with very highly figured, streaky, Circassian walnut with checkered splinter forearm & straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, a diamond shaped wrist, 14-3/8” over a smooth, solid rubber pad. Bottom of stock has a silver initial plate engraved “J.R.K.” Receiver has hand detachable sidelocks with dbl triggers & raised ridge behind scalloped fences. It has maker’s name on each side. Receiver, lockplates & appended metal are beautifully engraved in light foliate arabesque patterns. Accompanied by its orig brown leather, red felt lined, trunk case, compartmented for shotgun with two Holland & Holland snap caps, a rnd pewter H&H oil bottle, an H&H turn screw, a leather pouch with pull through, a pair of tweezers & cleaning bits. Inside lid has the orig maker’s label in center with cleaning & lubrication instructions in upper left hand corner and specification label & instructions in upper right hand corner. It also has a 2-pc brass & ebony cleaning rod. Lid is embossed “J.R.K.” Also accompanied by a letter from Holland & Holland fully identifying this shotgun & indicating manufacture in 1929. Consignor states that this shotgun is from the Keith Family of Woods Hole, Mass. Bore diameter: left – .730, right – .731. Bore restrictions: left – .045, right – .037. Wall thickness: left – .033, right – .031. Drop at heel: 2-1/8”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight: 7 lbs. 3.2 oz. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Bbls retain 97-98% strong, bright, orig, factory blue with receiver & lockplates retaining virtually all of their bright orig factory case colors, slightly faded on left side with a light area on right side with some thinning to silver on edges of reinforcing ribs. Trigger guard retains about all of its bright blue. There is a small area of fine pitting at top edges of standing breech. Stock has a tiny hairline back of each lockplate, otherwise wood is sound with a few minor nicks on buttstock & a scrape on forearm and retains virtually all of its orig factory oil finish. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bores. This is a shotgun that has seen very little use, just some moderately poor storage. Case has some mouse chewed edges & is dry with some light soil & paint spots, in need of treatment. Interior is musty & lightly mildewed, in need of cleaning. One strap is broken, the other is dry & handle is missing. 4-59137 JR336 (10,000-15,000)
