LIONEL STANDARD GAUGE #6 STEAM ENGINE WITH MATCHING TENDER. This is an early version of the #6 with thin rimmed driving wheels, a very important feature, and both are in black paint with red trimming. Locomotive and tender are both lettered “NYC & HRRR,” on either side. CONDITION: Completely intact but for a ventilator and brass button from the front missing; bluing on the boiler is very good for the age. Original flared bell is still intact; and original pedestal headlight is also present; tender has very short crinkled cupola, three rivet trucks. This #6 has many surface scratches, but is still a very scarce and desirable toy with great visual appeal. EC 1-4375 (800-1,300)
