*BEAUTIFUL CASED PURDEY DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 18419. Fine Purdey with 30” bbls choked MOD/CYL with tapered narrow concave matted rib, sgl bead with maker’s name in gold toward breech end. It has dbl chopper lumps with ejectors, sgl non-selective trigger & assisted opening. Mounted with highly figured English walnut with checkered splinter forearm & unusual Prince of Wales stock with raised teardrop side panels & capped grip, 14-7/8” over a checkered butt. Receiver & lockplates have about 75-80% coverage, extremely fine, English rose & scroll engraving with maker’s name on each lockplate along with cocked indicators with arrows. Bottom of receiver has “PURDEY’S PATENT” toward front. Trigger guard has a gold woodcock inlay with serial number in gold on tang. Stock has a blank gold initial plate on bottom. Forearm has a gold “2” in tip & an engraved “2” inside forend iron, obviously indicating the number “2” gun of a pair, although there is no indication of a “2” anywhere else on the shotgun. Accompanied by its orig oak & leather, red felt lined, trunk case with orig key, two orig turn screws & a Purdey square nickeled oiler. It has orig gold embossed leather label in lid. Also accompanied by a Purdey hard cover owner’s manual, possibly a reprint. Drop at heel: 2-3/16”, drop at comb: 1-9/16”. Bore restrictions: left – .018, right – .014. Wall thickness: left – .023, right – .022. Bore diameter: left – .629, right – .630. Weight: 6 lbs. 1.92 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, as completely and very professionally restored. Retains virtually all of this near factory restoration & possibly is a Purdey restoration. Bbls are smooth & bright blue with strong English style. Wood is sound. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bores. Case is fine & solid, dark & stained on outside showing moderate to heavy wear. Replaced straps. 4-58396 JR313 (47,500-67,500)
