RARE PETERS ADVERTISING ART. Large Peters shotgun shell, 15-11/16″ high x 3-15/16″ diameter across the rim. This giant size shot shell has a blue oil clothe covered body and high brass head with the body imprinted in orange lettering “PETERS PUTS MORE HIGH VELOCITY IN YOUR SALES”. The head of the cartridge is printed exactly like a real Peters high velocity shot shell and the mouth has an orange over-shot card printed “PETERS CHILLED” encircling a “6”. The side of the shot shell has a brass band that when pulled reveals a 16′ 4″ x 13″ one-sided paper banner with twenty advertising panels for Peters ammunition. On the side, near the rim of the head is a small button that when pushed releases a small cylinder around the primer area, which conceals a small crank handle that is used to re-roll the banner. It appears that this item was to be used during the 1935 calendar year. CONDITION: Very fine. Paper body of the shotshell retains virtually all of its dark blue color and orange lettering. Brass head retains about 40% of its bright brass polish with the balance a dark brass patina. Banner is bright and crisp with a couple of small tears in the very edges from being misaligned when rewinding. A very rare advertising item. 4-53579 JR1059 (3,500-7,000)
