EXTREMELY RARE WINCHESTER KNIFE/HATCHET SET.

EXTREMELY RARE WINCHESTER KNIFE/HATCHET SET. Very rare set with 5-13/16″ clip point Bowie knife blade etched on the side “-WINCHESTER- / TRADEMARK / MADE IN U.S.A.” The ricasso is marked “Winchester Western Division / Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp. / New Haven Conn., U.S.A.” The left side of the back edge of the blade has five spots of file work, three small & two large. It has an elliptical shaped German silver dbl hand guard and walnut grip panels secured with three brass pins and has four finger grooves on the left side, obviously made for a right handed person. The left grip has the Winchester logo with trademark and “MADE IN U.S.A.” The knife has its original brown leather sheath also impressed with the Winchester logo as on the blade and handle. Also included in the set is a wonderful small hatchet with wooden haft with both head & haft bearing the Winchester trademark information. Also included is the belt sheath for the hatchet which is also marked as the other items. CONDITION: The knife is extremely fine, retaining most of its original polish with a few spots of light stain. The handles are extremely fine with light wear. The hatchet head retains most of its original factory polish with a few surface spots on both sides and a small of rust. The haft is extremely fine with a couple of nicks and scratches. Both leather sheaths are also extremely fine with the hatchet cover having a couple of spots of oil stain and slight dryness on the flap.
