FINE LINDNER MADE CHARLES DALY DIAMOND QUALITY DAMASCUS DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 713. Very early Daly featherweight with 25-5/8” extra fine Damascus steel bbls choked MOD/MOD with concave, basket weave matted, tapered rib with sgl bead, crossbolt bbl extension, dbl underbite, ejectors & dbl triggers. Rib is marked “CHARLES DALY EXTRA FINE DAMASCUS BARRELS DIAMOND QUALITY FEATHER WEIGHT”. They have the Lindner crossed pistols & “HAL” on underside, along with various proof marks, but not nitro-proofed. Mounted with very highly figured, flame & shell grain walnut with horn-tipped, checkered, splinter forearm & Prince of Wales stock with raised, checkered side panels, 14-5/8” over a Pachmayr solid pad and 1/4” spacer. It has a blank silver initial oval on bottom. Receiver & all appended metal are full coverage, beautifully engraved with extremely well-executed, foliate arabesque patterns and fine border patterns. Bottom of receiver has a large vignette of a stag leaping a fence with very well detailed trees & field scene. Trigger guard is engraved with a bird dog in a field scene. Fences are beautifully sculpted and maker’s name is in a ribbon on each side. It has cocked indicators & top tang has “SAFE” in gold. Bore diameter: left – ..721, right – .719. Bore restrictions: left – .009, right – .005. Wall thickness: left – .022, right – .028. Drop at heel: 3-1/8”, drop at comb: 1-3/4”. Weight: 6 lbs. 5.44 oz. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain most of their beautiful orig Damascus pattern turning gray. Receiver retains case colors in sheltered areas, with balance turned silver. Stock has a hairline back of top tang, otherwise wood is sound with light handling & use marks with forearm showing moderate to heavy wear and a dark oil patina with buttstock retaining most of a professionally restored finish with freshened checkering.
