RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1888 CARTRIDGE BOARD. Very rare board, only made for a two year period and is distinct from the 1886 board only with the addition of two cartridges, the 38-56 and 40-65. Both are present on this board and are marked with small brass tags. The board appears to be complete and original with a plywood backing and a studio paper seal. The entire board has had an old coating of varnish or shellac applied. CONDITION: Fine as noted, all the cartridges and cap tins appear to be original. The lettering and artwork vignettes are dark under the old varnish but all are completely legible. The surface of the board is bubbled in two or three small places and there is an old water stain near the top right with some crackling and repaired in the upper right corner. It appears that all of the cartridges have been retied. 4-53341 JR942 (10,000-15,000)
