WINCHESTER 2ND MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 57004. Standard grade rifle with 24 1/4” rnd bbl (sometimes referred to as the extra weight bbl), full magazine with half-nickel front sight and early, short, semi-buckhorn rear sight with checkered edges and screwed on dust cover rail. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains 40-50% dull original blue mixed with brown patina. Magazine tube is mostly brown patina with blue in sheltered areas. Receiver has traces of original blue in sheltered areas with the balance light patina and light surface pitting. Wood is sound with a few dings and gouges and has a fine old hand rubbed patina. Good mechanics and strong bore, dark in the grooves with scattered pitting. 4-52327 JR143 (800-1,500)
