FINE GOTHIC VICTORIAN HIGHLY CARVED AND BURLED WALNUT LECTURN, NEW YORK OR PHILADELPHIA. The rectangular sloping burled top with faceted turret corners centering a leather writing surface above the conforming frieze, the side panels heavily relief carved with floral sprays, the back panel carved with a large oak leaf and acorn cluster. The front fitted with a drawer carved with a floral spray, the handle carved with leaftips. The whole raised on leaftip carved, fluted, and turned legs headed by faceted incised carved Gothic pilasters., the legs joined by a double U-form stretcher centering a carved scrolled cartouche.
