SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR SPADE BAYONET WITH 2 SCABBARDS. 10” blade. 3-1/2” wide. Marked “PAT APR. 16TH72” on the socket. The first leather scabbard is the correct scabbard for this bayonet. It has no markings. The second scabbard is for the Model 1869 trowel bayonet. The copper riveted solid belt loop is marked “PAT.DEC.1.1868 / US”. The brass tip has a lemon drop tip. CONDITION: Bayonet is fine with bright blade and 70% blue on the side. Scabbard is badly flaked with one open seam and cracking on the belt loop. 1869 scabbard is fine with minor cracking on the surface. Edwards Collection 4-58542 FS795 (500-750)
