SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1882 RIFLEMAN’S KNIFE. 8-1/4” spear point blade, 2” wide. Marked “SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY” on the left side of the brass crossguard and ‘U.S. / 1892” on the right. The turned wood handle is split down the center. The brass hangar on the black leather scabbard is marked “R.I.A”. The body of the scabbard has “ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL / W.T. / J.H.K”. CONDITION: Light surface rust on the blade. Very dark patina on the brass fittings with some corrosion on the scabbard fittings. Hilt is cracked length-wise and is missing a large chip at the pommel. Scabbard has much scuffing and little of the black finish remains. Markings on the scabbard are only partially visible. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58641 (300-500)
