SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1882 RIFLEMAN’S KNIFE. SN 2469. Marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” on the left side of the brass crossguard with the serial number on the right. Turned oak hilt. The black leather scabbard has a brass covered iron throat and a brass hangar, both of which are marked ‘WATERVLIET. / ARSENAL.”. CONDITION: Fine. Bright blade having widely scattered spots of pitting. Brass has a dark patina with some corrosion on the throat. Hilt has minor chipping from the hangar. Scabbard has scuffing on the edges and some cracking on the rear. 4-58836 FS790 (300-500)
