HUGO KAUFFMAN (German, 1844-1915) “THE CONVERSATION”. Oil on wood panel depicting a craftsperson talking to a caped old man; a cat watches attentively at their feet. Painting is signed, “ h. K.” in the upper left on the door panel and also appears to be dated “’69”. Framed in a beautiful original, carved, gold gesso frame. An old paper label is affixed to the reverse of the panel.
