CMS (BRITISH SCHOOL, 19TH CENTURY) CONFERRING OVER THE MARKET LIST. Oil on canvas English landscape scene shows a husband and wife in the field taking a break and reviewing a list which the woman holds in her hand, presumably one is going to the market. They lean on a large white cow while two other brown cows lay beside. Three milk buckets are included in the composition along with sheep, a far away village all looking across to mountains under a cloud blue sky. Signed lower right, “C.M.S., 1883”. Housed in an antique Birdseye maple ogee frame with gilt liner. The back having a “ROWNEY, LONDON” canvas stamp. Also a label from “THE FENWAY ART CENTER, BOSTON, MA”. SIZE: 20″ x 30″.
