FINE EARLY VIOLIN BY JO. BAPTISTA CERUTI CREMONENSIS. The inside printed label as follows: “Jo. Baptista Ceruti Cremonensis Fecit Cremonae An 1815 GBC.” One piece back with good curl, the varnish a gold-brown color having worn varnish at neck with a nicely carved scroll. The back edge with line inlay. Housed in a fine velvet lined zippered case with outer canvas case. Also included is a bow, which is unmarked. SIZE: 14”l of back x 7-1/4” at widest, 23”l overall. CONDITION: The violin is not strung and appears to be intact. The body shows use and tight cracks on the front side, the back side with just nicks and scrapes. 9-74234 LG (5,000-10,000)
