RARE DELUXE SPECIAL ORDER MARLIN MODEL 1881 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-55. SN 19550. Beautiful lightweight deluxe rifle with 24” oct bbl, full magazine, ivory bead front sight with a slot blank in the rear dovetail. It has a an early Lyman sight on the top tang. The receiver, lever, hammer and buttplate are case colored. The most prominent feature of this rifle is the spectacular, honey and chocolate, French walnut stock and forearm. The forearm is dbl diamond checkered and the pistol grip stock with “S” curved grip has a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: About very fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 95 – 96% strong bright original blue with only very sharp edge wear and a tiny spot or two of surface rust. Receiver, lever and hammer retain 75 – 80% thin faded case colors and the buttplate traces of case colors with the balance a silver/gray. Stock has a professionally repaired crack through the wrist, otherwise the wood is sound and retains most of its beautiful piano varnish finish.
