JEAN-JACQUES HENNER (French, 1829-1905) BASHFUL. Oil on canvas shows a young woman with head cocked to one side hiding her smile behind a crumpled scarf. A green drape background with white pillar. She wears a blue dress with white lace edge and gold shawl. Signed upper right “J J Henner”, dated upper left “1871”. Housed in a modern gesso decorated gilt period style frame.
