MARTIALLY MARKED MODEL 1860 HENRY LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 RF Henry. SN 3041. Henry rifle with 24-1/4″ oct bbl with integral magazine tube and correct inspector marks on frame and right side of bbl. It has an original German silver front sight and a replacement fixed rear sight. There is a curious small screw in the top of the receiver which appears to be a bolt guide. The buttstock is a nicely fitting, fine modern replacement as is the buttplate. The serial number appears on the left side of the lower tang and the lever is probably an old replacement. CONDITION: Good, no original finish remains with the iron being a dark brown patina. The bbl edges are worn, but the bbl address is legible. The follower and spring are replacements. The hammer has a large gouge on the left side and retains most of an old refinish. The receiver has been polished with rounded edges and some hammer marks on the carrier and around the carrier opening. It has light scratches and a couple of small dings. The wood is fine and retains most of its custom finish. The lever is a little long and sticks against the lever latch and the lever screw is a replacement. The bore is strong and dark with moderate pitting. The hammer will not hold in the safety notch. 4-53576 (14,000-18,000)
