RARE KRAG BOWIE BAYONET. Very rare bayonet made for use with the Krag rifle with alternative use as a fighting knife. It has a 9-1/16″ clip point diamond shaped blade dated “1900” on the left ricasso and has “US” stamped on the right ricasso. It has an iron hand guard and typical Krag handle with walnut grip panels. It is accompanied by its original blued steel sheath with metal belt hanger. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Blade, cross guard and pommel are all bright, possibly cleaned a long time ago. Blade has scattered spots of moderate pitting with a few spots on either side of the hand guard. Grip panels are bright and fine with a nice oil finish. Sheath retains 70-75% original blue, thin on the outside with flaked areas on the back, which have turned to a light patina. Belt hanger retains most of its bright original blue.
