*SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1898 KRAG RIFLE. Cal. 30-40. SN 252819. Standard rifle with 30″ round bbl, pedestal front sight and ski jump rear sight. It has standard hand guard with 1-piece walnut stock that has a “1900” dated cartouche on the left wrist. CONDITION: Extremely fine, the bbl & bands retain most of their strong original blue. The receiver retains about all of its original finish and the sideplate about 75% of its black case hardened finish. The cartridge box retains about 95% original finish and the extractor most of its niter blue turned plum. The trigger guard & buttplate retain most of their original finish with a small scrape and a few scratches on the trigger guard and light edge wear on the buttplate. The hand guard has a hairline at the upper end, otherwise the wood is sound showing light cleaning and a fine dull oil finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-53604 JR1034 (600-1,000)
