*SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1898 KRAG RIFLE. Cal. 30-40. SN 192088. Standard rifle with 30″ round bbl, pedestal front sight and ski-jump rear sight. It has usual handguard and 1-piece walnut stock with “1899” dated cartouche on the left wrist. It has smooth steel buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Very fine, the bbl retains 92-94% original blue, the receiver is a blue/gray patina, the sideplate has mottled dark case colors, thin on the top edge and the cartridge box retains about 60-70% thin original blue with a few scattered spots of surface discoloration. The extractor retains most of its bright niter blue. The wood is sound with usual handling & use marks and a few scattered light bruises with a gouge on the forestock. Mechanics are crisp, strong bright bore with some light frosting in the grooves. 4-53607 JR1028 (600-1,000)
