LAVISHLY CARVED TWO PIECE WALNUT CABINET. Top cabinet having one large door lavishly carved with a deep scallop shell encompassing two Pans pouring water from a jug into a cup. Surrounded by scroll leaf carving in a carved lunette flower border. The columns are full figured women with scroll and leaf carving ending in animal claw feet. Carved cornice with grotesque masks below. Sides with additional carving. Top having a crest of two winged mermaids holding a shield. Bottom section having one long drawer with Atlas carving under which is a carved skirt with C-scroll and mask. The front legs supports are full figured women ending in animal claw feet to a blocked foot which has a cross stretcher with a central grotesque animal mask. Back boards with central carved medallion surrounded by a molded frame. Last quarter of the 19th Century. SIZE: 99” h x 19-1/2” d x 41” at widest.
