*VERY RARE DELUXE ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 63 SEMI-AUTO RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. SN 172279. Fantastic Model 63 with 23″ tapered rnd bbl, Jack front sight and factory sheet metal rear sight with grooved receiver. It has extremely beautiful center crotch cut walnut wood with fine shell grain butt stock and highly figured forearm. The forearm is dbl diamond checkered with extensive checkering on the wrist. It has a capped pistol grip and checkered steel buttplate. Both sides of the receiver are engraved with about 60% coverage, fine foliate arabesque patterns with punch dot background. Both ends of the top of the receiver and over the chamber area as well as the bottom of the trigger guard are engraved to match. The forend cap has small flourishes of engraving on both sides. The proof marks on the bbl and receiver are offset to accommodate the engraving. Accompanied by its original kraft colored 2-piece cardboard box with red lettering on top and a black and yellow end label. The box contains an original hang tag, the original cardboard separator and wax paper. The hang tag is stamped “Special” and “Deluxe”. Also accompanied by a manufacturing order dated “4-15-60” with the “SOLD TO” address “INTER CO TRANSFER / OLIN MATHIESON CHEM CORP / WINCHESTER-WESTERN DIV / EAST ALTON, ILL.” with the shipping address the same. The special instructions block is marked “SPECIAL CARE GIVEN TO QUALITY WORKMANSHIP & MATERIALS”. The order identifies this rifle with “SPECIAL SELECT FANCY AMERICAN WALNUT / DELUXE CHECKERED FULL PISTOL GRIP CAPPED STOCK / 12-1 ENGRAVING TO MATCH SAME AS ON MODEL 12 #1691274 / FRENCH POLISH FINISH / ENGINE TURN BREECH BOLT”. It is stamped in red “MANUFACTURING / 4 27 60 / SET PLACED”. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine, as new, probably unfired, retaining virtually of its original factory finish to both metal and wood with only one or two extremely minor storage marks. Crisp mechanics, brilliant shiny bore. The box is equally fine with a small break in one edge. 4-53371 JR784 (15,500-22,500)
