*SPRINGFIELD M1 GARAND. Cal. 22-06. SN 6089544. This is an extremely rare variation of the M1 Garand, since only a handful was made in 1957 as an experiment with a new cartridge. They used leftover receivers in the late 6 million ranges to build these guns. They were strictly built for test and research. This particular example has a duplex bbl with the drawing board number “SA 37999” and a bbl date of “5-57”. It does have the Department of Defense proof as well inspection proof. Bbl is rifled as some examples seen have not been. A very rare Garand indeed. CONDITION: Exterior of the entire rifle shows as new. Bbl and receiver assembly retain 99%+ of finish as does the op-rod and trigger guard assembly. Bolt shows just the minutest wear from being operated. Buttplate shows just a little bit of wear on the checkering itself just from being lifted in and out of a rack. Bore, although dirty, should clean to new as is chrome-lined. Wood buttstock assembly has as few mars as humanly possibly on a gun this age and shows as new with “D.O.D.” stamp being very prominent as well as the circle “P”. Front hand guard shows no wear. Rear hand guard has 1 tiny little blemish approx. 1” in front of the receiver. A very fine example for an advanced M1 collector. 4-58232 BK17 (15,000-25,000)
