JAPANESE CARVED INLAID FOUR PANEL DRESSING SCREEN, MEIJI PERIOD. Each three dimensionally carved panel with a polychrome decorated central figure depicted in a leisurely pursuit within a rocky and wooded landscape, all with carved ivory faces with inked features and ivory, bone, and mother-of-pearl details. Surmounted by pierce carved panel’s depicting ivory and mother-or-pearl cranes, exotic birds, and scholarly figures, the bases similarly carved and inlaid. The stiles and pilasters intricately inlaid with silver thread. SIZE: 70-1/4” h x 86” l overall. CONDITION: Original patina, some losses to silver thread, some restoration to ivory, bone, and mother-of-pearl inlays, professionally done. Two panels missing scrolled apron as seen in photo.
