MAGNIFICENT LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY BRONZE AND DORE FIGURAL MANTLE CLOCK. Outstanding 19th Century Classical figural clock in three bronze and gold gilt patinas. The subject matter is of a full action gladiator on a horse fighting off a lion. The silk suspension works with an eight-day locking plate strike that strikes on the hour and half hour with a nice pleasant sound. Circa 1830. This is the type of clock that you would see typically having a glass dome cover. PROVENANCE: Part of the Lang Estate auction of Rye, New York sold by James D. Julia, Inc. in 1999. Pendulum present.
