*EARLY GRIFFIN & HOWE CUSTOM BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 400 Whelen. SN 930543 (G&H #206). Fine early rifle built on a Springfield 1903 action with beautiful, medium-weight 24” oct to rnd bbl with full matted rib, ramp front sight with caterpillar insert and G&H custom 2-leaf express sight. The receiver is mounted with a Lyman 48 sight and the bolt knob is typically G&H checkered. It has the original Springfield safety. It is mounted in a nicely figured walnut stock with schnable tip, European sling swivels and a checkered & engraved steel buttplate with trap, which contains a single rnd of .400 Whelen brass. The grip and forearm are beautifully checkered with fleur-de-lis patterns. The left side of the receiver was apparently originally mounted with a G&H scope side mount. The holes were filled and finished over when the rifle was built. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near new. Retains virtually all its fine original custom finish to both metal and wood.
